On July 21, Xiangya School of Medicine, in collaboration with Guiyang municipal hospitals, held a large free clinic at Xiangya Village Square in Nanming District, Guiyang. This event provided local residents with disease screening, diagnosis, treatment guidance, and consultation, offering top-notch medical services right in their own community. The clinic featured Xiangya School of Medicine Party Secretary and Chief Physician of General and Hepatobiliary Surgery, Chang Shi; Director of Hospital Management and Chief Physician of Infectious Diseases, Peng Shifang; and Vice Dean of Xiangya School of Medicine and Chief Physician of General Surgery (Pancreatic/Hernia Surgery), Huang Gengwen.
The specialists provided personalized consultations based on their expertise. In cases where patients were not local and their families had difficulty explaining symptoms, the experts conducted phone consultations to give accurate and professional advice. During the event, one patient was identified with a high suspicion of thyroid cancer, and the experts advised immediate further examination at a hospital.
Ms. Zhang, a patient, said, “It’s very convenient to have access to Xiangya experts here. This free clinic is a wonderful service for the community”.
The medical team included specialists in thyroid surgery, gastroenterology, orthopedics, pediatrics, and more, from Central South University Xiangya School of Medicine, the First People’s Hospital of Guiyang, Guiyang Fourth People’s Hospital, and Guiyang Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital.
