Three Yale M.D. Candidates Completed Clinical Rotations at Xiangya Third Hospital

Recently, three M.D. candidates from Yale School of Medicine, Connie Cheng, Nicole Jawitz and Oliver Jawitz, finished their one-month exchange program on clinical rotation at the Third Xiangya Hospital.

Accompanying by three 8-year-program medical students from Xiangya School of Medicine of Central South University, the 3 Yale M.D. candidates have engaged in inspecting, learning and clinical training separately at the Department of Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Hematology and Traditional Chinese Medicine in our hospital, got paired with Prof. Jiang Weihong, Associate Prof. Wang Fen, Li Xin and Zhang Yi, Dr. Zhang Rui and He Hao as their advisers. At the end of the activity, they said they were impressed by the experience of rotation at our hospital, got an in-depth understanding of the Chinese healthcare system. They also expressed their sincere gratitude to all the advisors, students, the exchange program supported by the Yale-China Association and CSU, and International Cooperation & Exchange Department (ICE Dept.) as well, which really benefit them a lot as they said.

During their stay at the hospital, they were invited as speakers to attend “Round Table Chats/RTC” and “Free Talk” hosted by the ICE Dept. More than 80 doctors, overseas students and medical students participated in these activities. The 3 M.D.s exchanged their study and life both at Yale and our hospital, they also introduced the U.S medical education and residency training framework to the participants. The attendees shared ideas on the differences between Chinese and American medical system.
