Yi Luqian, the Deputy Director of the Hunan Provincial Health Commission, pointed out that medical education is a lifelong education process in which one’s private interest should become increasingly less important and give way to the public health. In this process, the oath of medical student, the most essential requirements for global medical education and the philosophy interpreted by the school song of Xiangya School of Medicine always provide the criteria of values. Guided by such criteria, we are committed to pursuing academic excellence while embracing lofty ideals. According to Ms. Yi, Xiangya has set up many role models. We should learn from them and make our significant contributions to people’s health in our medical career. A healthy population is a key mark of a prosperous nation and a strong country. We should adhere to the principle of putting people and people’s life in the first place, and closely follow the strategy of national development to take the initiative in innovative development. We should stick to the right school-running orientation, and stay true to our original intention of cultivating people with moral integrity. We should also cultivate talent for the Party and the State, and improve the quality of personnel training in all respects.
