2019 Xiangya International Symposium on Medical Education was held in Changsha a few days ago. 21 volunteers from various majors of Xiangya Medical School, Central South University took an active part and were praised by both Chinese and foreign specialists at the symposium.
There were 10 specialists from abroad. To provide better services, International Exchange and Cooperation Office of the Second Xiangya Hospital recruited 21 volunteers from students studying eight-year program, five-year program, psychologic medicine and preventive medicine program at Xiangya Medical School of assist in relevant work.
During the symposium, every specialist was accompanies by 2 or 3 volunteers, who were responsible for help the schedule of the specialists’, including contacting vehicle to pick up and see off the specialist, informing the specialist of the symposium event, accompanying the specialist to participate in various activities and to experience Chinese culture, etc. The volunteers did a great job. They could communicate well with their teachers and classmates, and could remain calm and solve emergencies.
The volunteers were spoke highly by the specialists. They not only showed the outstanding qualities and confidence of Xiangya students, but also learned a lot.
Li Jiming, a student enrolled in 2016 and studying preventive medicine major, said: “At first, I was intending to practise my oral English. But in the end, the experience in these four days, the friendship I established with others, and the cooperation with other volunteers and teachers means much more than my initial expectations.”
“Everyone is excellent. I could feel the power of the team in an atmosphere with vigor and energy, and I also felt the positive effect of people with different characters working together in a harmonious way. I love it. If another activity like this is held in the future, I would like to participate again.” said Peng Jiale, a student enrolled in 2016 and studying preventive medicine major.
