On the evening of December 2, 2023, the Xiangya School of Medicine at Central South University excelled in the 23rd Campus Psychological Situational Drama Finals, held at the South Campus auditorium. Their performance in the play "Dreaming Back to 2043" secured the first place with an impressive score of 94.9, earning them the top honor across the entire university.

Directed by instructors Zhou Ziqi and Zhang Xiantao, the cast featured Lü Meichen, Dou Siyuan, Zhang Tianshuo, Feng Yiran, and Yi Siqin. Contributions behind the scenes came from Wang Ruoyu, Li Boyu, and others. The play, set within a dream sequence, depicted the protagonist envisioning successful roommates two decades into the future. Each roommate excelled in various fields such as medical academics, entrepreneurship in the medical industry, public service, and editing. Faced with the success of her peers, the protagonist grappled with feelings of being overshadowed and unsuccessful, contemplating the harsh realities and potential consequences of her own failures. Despite initially deciding to abandon her dreams due to the difficulties she faced, the persistent trials of reality continued to kindle a desire for a brighter future.

The play skillfully navigated the theme of realizing dreams and the accompanying efforts and sacrifices required. It emphasized that success, often admired for its current brilliance, conceals the struggles and sacrifices endured during the initial stages of growth. The characters faced their own lows and significant setbacks on their journey, but they never considered giving up from the start. Life is filled with unforeseen challenges, yet avoiding attempts only distances one from their dreams. The play encouraged the audience to reflect on personal struggles and challenges, emphasizing that everyone can pursue their aspirations, provided they take the crucial first step.

The performance unfolded through dream sequences, presenting a fresh and innovative opening. The repeated questioning of the audience with phrases like "timid, weak, hypocritical, and shameful" delved deep into the human psyche, prompting contemplation. The play, rooted in contemporary issues faced by university students, employed dream scenarios to illustrate the intricate journey of mental growth. It encouraged self-reflection amidst psychological conflicts, allowing the audience to confront internal setbacks and challenges, ultimately inspiring them to become better versions of themselves. The play concluded with thunderous applause from the entire audience.

The campus psychological drama competition not only provided students with a relaxing opportunity but also sparked reflections on dreams and reality. It encouraged students to prioritize mental health, facing life's challenges and setbacks with a positive and optimistic mindset. The organizers hope to see more students participate in psychological dramas, collectively fostering a positive and uplifting campus atmosphere.
