Xiangya School of Medicine 70th Class Alumni Reunion on the 40th Anniversary of Graduation

On the morning of November 16, 2013, more than 300 alumni and teachers from the Xiangya Class of '70 gathered at the Academic Lecture Hall on the third floor of the Outpatient Building of Xiangya Hospital, Central South University. The event was attended by Zhang Buxin, Party Secretary of Xiangya School of Medicine; Xiao Ping, Party Secretary of Xiangya Hospital, Central South University; Shu Hengping, Vice Dean of Xiangya School of Medicine, among others, who welcomed the alumni back to their alma mater.

The meeting was presided over by Ou Shisheng. During the event, Qiu Shulin, the chairman of the alumni association, reflected on the forty years since graduation, expressing deep emotions about the journey they had taken. Qiu Shulin also introduced the main work of the alumni association, expressed gratitude to the alma mater, and conveyed determination to actively participate in the centennial celebration of the university. Following this, Secretary Xiao Ping introduced the hundred-year history of Xiangya School of Medicine, highlighting its academic achievements, medical contributions, and teaching contributions. He sincerely thanked the alumni for their contributions to the alma mater. Zhang Buxin, Party Secretary of Xiangya School of Medicine, welcomed the alumni back home, expressed joy for their progress and achievements, and outlined Xiangya's current goal of striving to rank among the top three in the country in the next ten years. Secretary Zhang Buxin hoped that alumni would pay attention to their health, visit home more often, support the alma mater, and warmly invited them to participate in the university's centennial celebration next year. Representing the overseas alumni of the Class of '70, Ma Tangeng introduced the current basic development situation of overseas alumni and their deep affection for Xiangya. In his words, he expressed gratitude to the alma mater and wished for the continued improvement of Xiangya. Teachers' representatives expressed their earnest expectations for the students of Xiangya and wished the Class of '70 even greater achievements.

After the meeting, leaders of the university, including Professor Tao Lijian, Vice Party Secretary of Central South University and Dean of Xiangya School of Medicine, joined the alumni of the Class of '70 for a group photo in front of Xiangya Hospital and toured the advanced facilities in Xiangya's Red Building and the new medical area. Thus, the alumni gathering concluded successfully.
