On September 20, the Sinocare Diabetes Foundation signed a donation agreement with the Central South University Education Foundation. As part of this agreement, the foundation will donate 1.1 million RMB to support the development of medical disciplines at Xiangya School of Medicine. The school plans to effectively use these funds to accelerate the growth of its medical programs. In celebration of the 110th anniversary of Xiangya Medical Education, the school hopes to attract further contributions from businesses and individuals to advance medical education.
Founded on January 11, 2019, the Sinocare Diabetes Foundation was initiated by Li Shaobo, chairman of Sinocare Inc. and an alumnus from the class of 1982, along with chief scientist Cai Xiaohua and vice chairman Li Xinyi. Approved by the Hunan Provincial Civil Affairs Department, it is a 4A-level non-public fundraising foundation recognized as a charitable organization. It is the first diabetes public welfare foundation in mainland China, specifically focusing on Type 1 diabetes projects for children. The Sinocare Foundation embraces modern philanthropic principles, connecting healthcare professionals, diabetes patients and their families, media personnel, philanthropists, and caring individuals through psychological support, economic assistance, capacity building, and advocacy. It aims to systematically address the social issues faced by the Type 1 diabetes community. From 2021 to 2023, the foundation received a perfect score on the FTI China Foundation Transparency Index, achieving the highest rating of A+. In 2022, its “Sweet Kids” project was nominated for the 12th China Charity Award.
