Clinical Medicine of CSU Ranks among Global Top 1‰ Disciplines of ESI for the First Time

According to the updates of Essential Science Indicators (ESI) of Clarivate Analytics released on September 11th, 2019, clinical medicine of Central South University (CSU), a “double first-class” discipline developed under the guidance of Xiangya Hospital, ranked among global top 1‰ disciplines of ESI for the first time, becoming the third discipline of CSU in this category after material science and engineering. At this point, the number of disciplines (fields) of CSU among global top 1‰ of ESI ranks the 11th among Chinese universities.

After this update of data, the period of paper retrieval by the database is from January 1st, 2019 to June 30th, 2019. According to statistics, the discipline of clinical medicine of CSU published 8,058 ESI papers during this period, which have been cited for 93,019 times. At present, it ranks the 412th among 4,313 research institutions in the global top 1% of this discipline (field).

In terms of CSU’ overall performance, the number of CSU’s ESI papers increased to 42,274, and the number of citations increased to 442,175, each paper cited by 10.46 times on average. CSU’s rank (by numbers of citations) among 6,081 institutions in global top 1% of ESI climbed from the 347th of July, 2019 to the 337th.
