Recently, Healsan Consulting LLC conducted a big data analysis for 44,336 SCI papers in nursing area published worldwide in 2022. The results of the analysis showed that the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University placed second worldwide in the total impact of SCI papers in 2022. According its analysis results, the Second Xiangya Hospital also placed second in China on the number of SCI papers published in 2021.

The results above was ranked globally in order of the total impact of SCI papers published by the first author. West China Hospital of Sichuan University, the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, Mayo Clinic, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and Mackay Memorial Hospital were the top five hospitals in terms of the total impact of SCI papers published in the field of nursing. In China, these six hospitals boasted the highest cumulative impact including West China Hospital of Sichuan University, the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, West China Second University Hospital, Tongji Hospital of Tongji Medical College of HUST, and the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University. Diabetes, stress, mental health, depression and anxiety remained the five hottest keywords in global nursing research.

In recent years, the hospital has always attached great importance to the development of nursing. Under the leadership of the Party Committee and administration departments, the Second Xiangya Hospital have continuously improved nursing scientific research, observed the integrity in scientific research, strengthened the management of scientific research projects, so as to steadily improve comprehensive strength of nursing scientific research. As the result, the Second Xiangya Hospital obtained two projects supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China last year, which presented remarkable achievements. At the beginning of the Lunar New Year, Nursing Department held a seminar on discipline development in 2023, which focused on the discipline development areas. Based on that, academic thinking can be inspired by clinical practice, and academic results can be transformed to help clinical treatments.. All nurses in the hospital will work hard together to further promote the high-quality development of nursing by improving team development and training young talents.
