On April 8th, the press conference of Meta-Radiology was successfully held combining online and offline sessions by the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University in Changsha. The guests attending the launch ceremony include: Prof. Li Zhihong, editor-in-chief of Meta-Radiology, vice president of Central South University and president of the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, Prof. Chai Xiangping, secretary of the CPC Committee of the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, Li Guangliang, general manager of KeAi Publishing, Wang Lisha, president of Neural Regeneration Research (NRR), Prof. Wang Yining and Prof. Wang Yun, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Prof. Lu Qing, Shanghai East Hospital, Prof. Bai Lijun, Xi 'an Jiaotong University, Prof. Cui Longbiao, Air Force Medical University, Prof. Liu Feng, Tianjin Medical University General Hospital, and directors of Departments of Radiology of provincial hospitals in Hunan. The guests online present at the ceremony include: Liu Tianming, editor-in-chief of Meta-Radiology, member of the American Institute for Medical Biological Engineering and distinguished professor of the University of Georgia, Prof. Chen Xiaoyuan, editor-in-chief of Theranostics, Prof. Shen Dinggang, editor-in-chief of Frontiers in Radiology, and all the international editorial board of Meta-Radiology. The ceremony was presided over by Associate Researcher Zhao Wei and Supervisor Nurse Qin Shenghui of the Department of Radiology, the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University.
Prof. Liu Jun, executive Editor of Meta-Radiology and director of the Department of Radiology of Xiangya Second Hospital of Central South University, introduced the original intention of founding the journal and analyzed the subsequent opportunities and development. Editor-in-chief Liu Tianming made a detailed introduction of the editorial board members, development planning, and expected goals.
On behalf of the Central South University and Xiangya Second Hospital, Vice President Li Zhihong extended a warm welcome to the experts and guests. He pointed out that Second Xiangya Hospital has always attached great importance to develop platforms and departments, and has strong strength in multiple disciplines, so it ought to take a greater initiative to promote interdisciplinary development. He said that as the first English journal of the Second Xiangya Hospital, Meta-Radiology, will strive to serve as an exchange platform based on the cross-research realm involving medical imaging that promotes academic exchanges between domestic and foreign peers and multidisciplinary experts and enhances the international status and influence of China's medical imaging.
General Manager Li Guangliang, said that KeAi will actively cooperate with the editorial team in journal development strategy, data analysis, database inclusion, and international and domestic promotion, to help Meta-Radiology become a first-class, high-impact journal.
The launch of the journal has been supported by Prof. Su Guohui and Prof. Teng Gaojun, members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Prof. Liu Shiyuan, chairman of the Radiology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, Prof. Jin Zhengyu, president of the Radiology Physicians Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, Prof. Liang Changhong, designated president, as well as leading Chinese experts and Distinguished Young Scholars in medical community, Chang Jiang Scholars and the Chinese Journal of Radiology. They expressed their congratulations on the launch of Meta-Radiology online.
Afterwards, Li Zhihong, Chai Xiangping, Li Guangliang and Liu Jun jointly attended the handprint ceremony. Secretary Chai Xiangping announced the official launch of Meta-Radiology and expressed warm congratulations.
President Wang Lisha, Prof. Shen Dinggang and Prof. Chen Xiaoyuan shared their experience in launching a journal, and expressed their vision for its establishment. Among them, Prof. Shen Dinggang and Prof. Chen Xiaoyuan mentioned in their speeches on behalf of the editorial board team that Meta-Radiology will strive to be a first-class international journal. Foreign editorial board members account for 70%. With great enthusiasm and dedication, all members of the editorial board will actively grasp the academic hot spots, ensure the quality of manuscripts, making it to be a medical imaging journal with international influence.
After the ceremony, the Medical Imaging Cross-research Colloquium of the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University officially started. At the meeting, Prof. Wang Yining, Prof. Wang Yun, Prof. Lu Qing, Prof. Cui Longbiao, Prof. Bai Lijun and Prof. Liu Feng introduced new achievements and progress made in the field of interdisciplinary medicine.
Finally, Prof. Zhou Shunke, a famous doctor of Xiangya, concluded the conference. He announced the successful conclusion on the kick-off conference of Meta-Radiology, and expressed his gratitude to the distinguished guests for their strong support and wonderful sharing. He also hoped to work with everyone to manage Meta-Radiology for a sound development.
