On March 3rd, a delegation led by Yuan Zhenghong, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee of Fudan University and Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai Medical College, visited Xiangya School of Medicine for an exchange visit. The meeting took place in a conference room at Xiangya's new campus, Xiaoqian Building. Chen Xiang, Executive Vice President of Central South University, Dean of Xiangya School of Medicine, and Director of the Furong Laboratory, attended the meeting, which was presided over by Chang Shi, Secretary of the Party Committee of Xiangya School of Medicine.

During the meeting, Chen Xiang introduced the basic situation of Xiangya School of Medicine and the Furong Laboratory, focusing on the "High-Quality Development Plan for Medical Fields at Central South University." He emphasized the close connection between Shanghai Medical College and Xiangya School of Medicine, both being inheritors and promoters of the medical education ideology of Mr. Yan Fuqing. Chen stressed the need for collaboration to contribute to the development of medical education in China, echoing the call for "Hunan businessmen to return" and "alumni to return to Hunan," and assisting in making Changsha a global R&D center city.

Yuan Zhenghong delivered a presentation on "Paving a New Path for High-Quality Development of Medical Schools in Comprehensive Universities." He shared the exploration, experience, and lessons learned from Shanghai Medical College, Fudan University in establishing medical schools within comprehensive universities. Yuan highlighted the extensive cooperation between Xiangya School of Medicine and Shanghai Medical College across various fields such as basic medicine and public health, as well as the deep collaboration between their affiliated hospitals in discipline construction and medical care. He emphasized the importance of leveraging university-run medical schools, inheriting the medical education ideology of Mr. Yan Fuqing, and jointly exploring new paths for comprehensive universities to establish medical schools.

During the meeting, both sides engaged in substantive discussions on medical personnel reform, medical talent cultivation, international exchanges for medical students, and the development of affiliated hospitals. They agreed on the importance of serving local economic and social development, prioritizing the health of local communities, and fostering collaboration among multiple stakeholders to realize the joint construction and sharing of medical schools.

Before the meeting, Yuan Zhenghong and his delegation visited the historical and cultural corridor of Xiangya Hospital and the historical gallery of Xiangya School of Medicine. In the lobby of Fuqing Building, as a representative, Yuan Zhenghong paid tribute to Mr. Yan Fuqing by laying flowers at his statue, expressing gratitude and remembrance as a successor to his legacy.

Accompanying Yuan Zhenghong were Yang Weiguo, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai Medical College, Fudan University, Zhang Zhiyong, former Vice President of Fudan University and former Director of the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center, as well as officials from various departments of Shanghai Medical College. Officials from Central South University's Human Resources Office, Domestic Cooperation Office, and Hospital Management Office, along with members of Xiangya School of Medicine's leadership team, also attended the meeting.
