Chen Xiang Leads Special Meeting for Spring Semester Work at Xiangya School of Medicine

On March 4th, Chen Xiang, Executive Vice President of Central South University, Dean of Xiangya School of Medicine, and Director of the Furong Laboratory, presided over a significant gathering to discuss the agenda for the upcoming spring semester at Xiangya School of Medicine. The meeting included updates on the progress of various departments within the school and reports from the Furong Laboratory. Discussions also focused on plans for campus improvement, international collaborations, exchange programs for medical students, the establishment of a school historical museum, and the development of the core area of the Furong Laboratory. The entire leadership team of Xiangya School of Medicine was present.

Chen Xiang emphasized the importance of adopting a pragmatic approach in all endeavors, urging attendees to think outside the box and enhance leadership capabilities. He stressed the need for robust institutional support, strategic resource planning, and the advancement of national-level initiatives with a focus on quality. Chen also encouraged broadening perspectives to align with domestic and international trends, ensuring Xiangya School of Medicine remains at the forefront of innovation.

Recognizing the rich historical and cultural heritage of Xiangya, Chen Xiang underscored the necessity of cultivating a cadre of high-level custodians to safeguard and promote this legacy. He emphasized the significance of authentic representation and ensuring widespread understanding and appreciation of Xiangya's history and culture.

Chen Xiang also addressed various tasks such as the preservation of historical buildings, advancements in medical education, and preparations for clinical skills competitions.

In addition, Chen Xiang attended a retirement ceremony honoring faculty and staff of Xiangya School of Medicine for the first half of 2024. He extended his heartfelt wishes to the retirees, acknowledging retirement as a significant life milestone and encouraging continued involvement in Xiangya's development.

Following the meeting, Chen Xiang visited faculty and students preparing for the National Clinical Skills Competition. He engaged in detailed discussions about their preparations and offered encouragement for them to excel on the national stage, representing the excellence of Xiangya. He also expressed sincere appreciation for the guidance provided by the teachers.
