Recently, Stanford University and Elsevier Data Repository released the Stanford University Top 2 Scientists List 2023. Six scholars from Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, Zhou Zhiguang, Sun Lin, Zhang Dongshan, Tang Chengyuan, Cheng Yan, and Chen Qiongni, were selected in Annual Scientific Influence Ranking list.

The list is compiled based on the citation data system analysis of the Scopus database, utilizing six key indicators for comprehensive evaluation including the number of citations (with and without self-citations, and self-citation data provided), H-index, Hm-index, among others. Scientists are classified into 22 scientific fields and 176 sub-fields. It serves as a comprehensive assessment tool for evaluating scientists’ long-term research performance, offering an objective and accurate reflection of their influence.

In recent years, the Party committee and administrative departments of the Second Xiangya Hospital implement the decisions and requirements of the CPC Central Committee in scientific research and talent management, actively respond to the workforce development strategy, and devote to discipline development, prioritizing talent as the most crucial resource. They have expedited the development of talent centers and innovation hubs, contributing significantly to the establishment of a world-class hospital with distinct Chinese characteristics.
