The 2026 First Innovation Conference on Integrated Industry-Education Development for Intelligent Medicine and Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) was held at Kaifu Campus of Central South University and Furong Laboratory on June 6. Jiang Difei, Vice Governor of Hunan Province, attended the event and delivered an address.
On behalf of the Hunan Provincial People’s Government, Vice Governor Jiang extended sincere welcome to all academicians, experts and distinguished guests. He noted that the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Hunan Provincial People’s Government have acted on General Secretary Xi Jinping’s earnest instructions and prioritized the BCI industry in the layout of the 15th Five-Year Plan. To advance high-quality development of intelligent medicine and the BCI industry, sustained efforts must be made in technological breakthroughs, industry-education integration and innovation ecosystem building. He also called on all academicians and experts to continue caring for and supporting Hunan’s development, and jointly elevate the BCI industry to new heights.
At the opening ceremony, Vice Governor Jiang, An Shi, Party Secretary of Central South University, together with CAS Academicians Lu Lin, Luo Qingming and Hu Dewen, unveiled the plaque for the BCI Innovation Center of Furong Laboratory.
During the conference, Academicians Lu Lin, Luo Qingming and other specialists delivered reports on frontier topics including the development and prospects of BCI and brain spatial informatics. Multiple scholars shared insights on hot research issues. Parallel sub-sessions held academic presentations and in-depth discussions centered on industry-education integration throughout the day.
Hosted by Central South University and undertaken by Furong Laboratory, the conference is rooted in Hunan’s local strengths and oriented toward major national strategic demands. Hunan is accelerating the integration of provincial innovation resources to deepen industry-education integration in intelligent medicine and BCI, contributing Hunan’s strength to China’s bid to seize the commanding heights of future brain science industries.
