May 17th, 2021 is World Hypertension Day, Professor Yuan Hong’s team was invited to attend the Global Office Online Meeting and the Awarding Ceremony of the “2021 Outstanding Contribution Prize” by the World Federation of Hypertension. Gratifyingly, Professor Yuan’s team was honored with the “Outstanding Contribution Prize of Population Cardiovascular Prevention and Control”.

During the daytime, the team just finished the free medical treatment of hypertension and the related health education activity, then joined the meeting online without a stop. At the meeting, Professor Marcelo Oria, on behalf of the World Federation of Hypertension, announced the name list of the winners via video and Professor Yuan’s team was on the list of successful candidates.

Over the years, Professor Yuan’s team was dedicated to the construction of the Hypertension Prevention and Control system in Hunan province. Including the initiating of the millions of patients managing project integrating the outpatient, education, data, internet plus, medicine, and high-risk management as a whole; the building of more than 2,700 special disease clinics; the training and examining for 21,000 grassroots medical staff engaged in hypertension; last but not the least, established more than 300 hypertension education schools and branch schools, etc.

The “Outstanding Contribution Prize” was a kind of approval to the achievements made by Professor Yuan’s team in the hypertension field and would also become a new milestone for the future development of Hypertension Prevention and Control in Hunan, China.
